Multi-Application / Loyalty
Many loyalty and multi-application programs have been designed around the contactless smart cards. Single smart cards are being used by several entities for different purposes, i.e. a city issues a smart card and several entities use the medium to propose various services. This have the advantage of decreasing the number of cards by combining multiple applications on a single contactless smart card.

Here are some examples of multi-applications and loyalty programs using contactless smart cards:

NFL football stadiums’ contactless payments: The PowerPay's contactless tag is accepted already in 3 stadiums (Seattle, Detroit and Philadelphia). The program is designed to make it easier for football fans to return to the game quicker. Consumers, using the cashless PowerPay card, can complete a transaction at the concession stand in as little as three seconds by waving the tag in front of a PowerPay reader. That means they miss less of the football action! |
