Applications

There are six main applications for contactless smart cards:

	E-Government: a catalyst for contactless smart cards
	Transport: first significant application for contactless smart cards
	Access Control: A very large number of applications
	Banking: the largest contactless opportunity to come
	Multi-Application / Loyalty: the “Squaring of the Circle”

Each of these applications involves specific constraints on its transactions in terms of speed, size of data exchanged, security, and price constraint.
