Contactless Standards

There are multiple standards for RFID. The following graph (Source: SINCE Interoperability Group) shows which standards are used in function of the functionality and memory size needed. Tandis focuses exclusively at this time on the high-end applications

The three main standards for contactless applications are the following:

Standard

Card Type

Range

Data Rate

ISO 10536

Close coupling

0-1 cm

9600 bps

ISO 14443

Proximity coupling

0-10 cm

106 kbps

ISO 15693

Vicinity coupling

0-1 m

26 kbps

Tandis technology focus exclusively on the ISO 14443 standard, the most widely used contactless standard in the world. Our assembly lines can use any type of ISO 14443 chipset, 14443-A (100% modulation depth - better suited for wired logic) or 14443-B (10% modulation depth - better suited for microcontrollers, allowing for multi-application features and high security level).
